Both Gap and A.P.C. have shaped today’s ideals of casual style across their respective continents through pieces that become more personal with wear. Drawing from the language of 1960s cinema, music, and art, and the sheer casual look that defined this cultural era, the collection reinterprets each brand’s signature silhouettes and design codes to feel both classic and current, relaxed but sophisticated – bringing together A.P.C.’s understated Parisian look with Gap’s American heritage.
Gap and A.P.C. have unveiled a 37-piece limited-edition menswear, womenswear and accessories collection that combines Gap’s American casual heritage with A.P.C.’s Parisian approach, drawing on 1960s cinema, music and art.
Launching September 18 from $28 to $328, it will be sold online and at stores worldwide, supported by a Paris-shot short film and launch activations in New York City and Tokyo.
“For me, there is a chic way to be casual and a casual way to be chic,” said A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou. “The research of that balance is at the heart of this collaboration, which brings the concept of ‘sheer casual’ to life. Gap and A.P.C. both aim to achieve authentic, familiar, well-made clothes that can become pillars of your wardrobe. Friendship and shared cultural affinities between America and France are also at the root of this project, which both our teams enjoyed exploring in a very natural way.”
In line with the ’60s movies that inspired the collection, the collaboration will be brought to life through The Long Way, a short film directed by Karl Cannone, styled by fashion image consultant Alastair McKimm, and overseen by Gap’s Head of Creative Calvin Leung. Shot in the historic Montmartre neighborhood in Paris, the film tells a cross-cultural story of unexpected connections, starring emerging American rapper ian and French DJ Paloma Le Friant. The campaign celebrates the shared affinity between New York and Paris as two creative capitals for fashion, art, and music. The film will premiere on owned-brand social and digital channels timed to the collection launch.
Denim anchors the collection, building on A.P.C.’s reputation for premium fabric and revered fits while drawing on Gap’s deep heritage in the category. Inspired by pieces chosen from both the A.P.C. and Gap archives, the assortment emphasizes authentic vintage wash techniques and timeless character. Select men’s styles, including the Denim Jacket and Relaxed Straight Jeans are crafted from premium Japanese denim and offered under $200. For women, most-loved fits including the High Rise Stride and Low Rise ’90s Loose are cut in Gap’s classic 100% cotton rigid denim, paired against the sculptural Shaped Denim Jacket and classic Icon Denim Jacket with a bespoke, archive-inspired lining.
The story continues beyond denim through a refined mix of tailoring, Oxford shirting, functional outerwear, knitwear, and accessories. A reimagined sailor stripe serves as a defining motif, joined by mod-influenced matching sets, utility detailing, and dual-brand graphics. Premium fabrications, including cashmere, wool, and corduroy, bring depth and texture to the collection. An Extra Heavyweight Hoodie and a range of accessories feature a reworked Gap arch logo, transforming A.P.C.’s familiar signature into collectible new expressions.
The Gap × A.P.C. collection will be available beginning 9 a.m. ET / 6 a.m. PT on Friday, September 18 on gap.com, at 10 select Gap stores in the U.S. and Canada, and A.P.C.’s Mercer Street store. The collection will also be available across Japan, the United Kingdom, Europe, Turkey, China, Mexico, Australia, and the Middle East. The collection ranges in price from $28 to $328.
Gap and A.P.C. will celebrate the collaboration with launch activations in New York City and Tokyo. Gap Encore members will receive exclusive early access to preview and shop the collection at a pop-up event in New York City on September 17. Cardmembers will also enjoy early access to shop the collection online and in the app that same day.
