The Muppets are cute enough, with their big eyes, fuzzy pelts, and goofy voices, but what if they were even cuter? That’s basically the idea behind Muppet Babies, the animated series that ran for eight seasons and follows toddler versions of the puppet characters families across America know and love. It’s an ingenious idea: What better way to get little kids interested in the franchise than by showing them what these characters were like when they were little kids themselves? The idea was first hinted at in a dream sequence in The Muppets Take Manhattan, and the spinoff premiered only two months after the movie’s release. Disney Jr. rebooted the show in a different animation style in 2018.
