Former NBA player Jarnell Stokes and Grammy-nominated film and music producer Vassal Benford III have partnered with sports manager Torrel Harris of Unique Sports Management International to launch TBC Sports Entertainment (TBCS).
TBCS will provide content featuring noted sports figures based on stories produced by Stokes. It will also use social media and digital platforms to promote and create ancillary incomes for the athletes.
Projects already in preproduction for TBCS include Memphis on the Mountain Top, a docuseries showcasing the intersection of iconic civil rights leaders, sports and music; Learning to Win, a show taking top sports figures back to their past and reuniting them with an educator who made a difference in their lives; Break the Cycle, a coming-of-age basketball drama; and Rocky Top College, a collegiate sports series.
In addition, Stokes is producing an animated film version of Wings to Fly in partnership with Jay Fukuto (Simpsons, King of the Hill, Beavis and Butt-Head, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Family Ties, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Kim Possible). Wings to Fly tells the story of a rising basketball star who prematurely passes away only to discover his higher spiritual purpose is to help a young girl who loves basketball.
