As generative AI tools get more and more advanced, they’ll also gain superior functionality, including video creation, stable character setting, expanded capacity to action requests on their own, and more.
Which is what we’re starting to see in some AI image generation tools, with X’s Grok becoming the latest to add in the option to edit specific elements of an image.
As you can see in this example, posted by Doge Designer, now, you can ask Grok to edit a specific element of an image, in basic terms, and it will be able to customize just the chosen segment.
Which Instagram is also experimenting with in its AI generation tools.
Of course, you’ve had the capacity to do this in dedicated visual generation tools like Dall E and Midjourney for some time, but now, the same will be readily available within social apps, and within the composer flow for your social posts.
Which could be a handy option, opening up a range of new possibilities.
The next step, as noted, will be full video generation, which X is also working on, after recently acquiring Hotshot to power is video creation tools.
Video creation is more complex, in that it requires editing per frame, and maintaining core elements throughout variable changes in background and setting. We’re not quite there yet, but Meta is also working on its own text-to-video generation process, while YouTube also now has generative AI tools within the Shorts composer.
So this is coming, and it’ll open up many more new options for self-expression and creation within each app.
But being able to edit specific elements of your images with AI is also an important step, and it’s a smart integration from X to make this readily available within its creation flow.
The new update is part of X’s ongoing development of its xAI models that power its Grok chatbot. X Premium users have expanded access to Grok’s tools, as well as early access to updates (like voice search), but regular users can also use Grok’s core functionality.
