Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a little overcrowded with characters, a couple of which feel like vestigial appendages from earlier versions of the movie where they probably made more sense within the story (like everything involving The Hand). But Brand New Day does understand Spidey’s appeal, and how it all boils down to his core dilemma: His internal struggle over his double life and how he can never reconcile what he wants to do with what he feels he has to do.At times, it feels like Brand New Day can’t quite reconcile what its creators want with what they have to do to appease their corporate overlords and the needs of the broader MCU. But not enough to ruin what’s otherwise a pretty darn good Spider-Man story.
