or For celebs, every week presents a good reason to indulge in the game of serving face cards thanks to a rather robust event calendar. For us,—the mere mortals— this means we’re allowed to tag along in anticipation of those whimsically dolled-up moments! As Black women showed up last week, they dialed up the glamour in the process, and we found ourselves wrapped into their ethereal aura once again.

All too often, makeup artists emphasize the eyes, and for a good reason. You see, the eyes are one of the first things people notice on your face so it makes sense to play them up. In some instances, we see them vibrate with colorful shadows that add an interesting pop to a look. Some other times, they come alive with dramatic lashes amid muted tone eyeshadows. Last week, the eyes came out to play but in a different way. Rather than leveraging the color of eyeshadows or the drama of lashes, both actress Yara Shahidi and beauty influencer Jasmine Egal made a case for dramatic liners. The result was a flawless blend of beauty and edge. Actress Yara Shahidi rocked a negative space graphic eye makeup as she attended the Cartier Beautés du Monde High Jewellery collection launch in Madrid, Spain.
