Founder of SureImpact, a user-friendly social services case management software, Sheri Chaney Jones is not just a leader; she’s a visionary with a mission to transform the social sector through the power of data. Her journey is marked by passion, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to making a difference.
Originally from central Ohio, Jones’ story is shaped by a unique perspective. From an early age, she contended with dyslexia, an experience that fueled her interest in data-driven assessments and predictive analytics. She realized that standardized tests often failed to accurately predict her potential, challenging the assumptions associated with such data.
This realization sparked Jones’ passion for understanding how data could predict performance, particularly in personal and professional development. She pursued industrial and organizational psychology studies at Ohio State University and Central Michigan University, where she deepened her knowledge of predictive analytics and data-driven decision-making.
Jones’ dedication to data-driven excellence became evident as she developed a cutting-edge tool to help case managers assist individuals with barriers to employment. She laid the foundation for a data-driven approach to improving lives by linking mental health characteristics to job fit.
At 26, Jones assumed a pivotal role as the first person to measure the impact of court programming at the Franklin County Juvenile Court. As Deputy Director of Performance Evaluation, she discovered programs inadvertently harming children and turned the situation around, establishing a legacy of success.
Jones’ career path led her to the Ohio Department of Aging, where she served as Director of the Performance Center. During the 2008 Great Recession, she led the creation of the Long-Care Savings Calculator, saving the state money and demonstrating the power of data during crises.
Her passion for entrepreneurship led her to launch a national study on data use in the nonprofit sector, which became the foundation for her book, “Impact and Excellence.”
Jones’ first company, Measurement Resources, specializes in community engagement and change management. Their team of experts combines strengths in public sector planning, health research, psychology, and data analysis to address community issues comprehensively.
Her research revealed that nonprofits using data were more likely to thrive financially and nurture more robust relationships. This insight led to a commitment to help organizations unlock the power of data.
In 2018, Jones launched SureImpact, “Purpose-Built software to manage, measure, and communicate your social impact,” to bridge the gap between decision-making and optimism. The software provides easy access to data-driven insights, ensuring accountability and revolutionizing how impact is measured in the social sector.
On SureImpact, Sheri says, “From a young age, I’ve seen the transformative power of data, challenging assumptions and labels that limit human potential. My journey has been one of unwavering commitment to harnessing data for the greater good. At SureImpact, we believe in a world where data and powers change and where organizations, big or small, can make a lasting difference.” She adds, “Together, we will shape a future where impact is measured, improved, and communicated with precision and purpose.”
