New York-based fashion designer Jason Wu has joined hands with digital fashion store DRESSX to release an NFT of US’ Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s famous inaugural gown. DRESSX and Wu’s team worked together to create a digital twin of the gown, named THE DREAM, which is now available for purchase as a 1/1 NFT with exclusive utility attached.
THE DREAM NFT, Jason Wu’s first NFT project, comes with two tickets to the Jason Wu Collection Fashion Show during New York Fashion Week, which will be held on September 10, 2022, along with backstage access to meet the designer himself, according to DRESSX’s website. The NFT owner will also get to ‘digitally wear’ the gown in an exclusive photo look. Moreover, 4K animated artwork and 4K rendered stills of THE DREAM are also part of the NFT package.
The real-life gown was custom designed especially for First Lady Michelle Obama to wear at the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Ball. The unique outfit is made from ivory silk chiffon and decorated with organza flowers, crystals, and silver thread embroidery. The gown is now displayed at the First Ladies’ exhibit at The National Museum of American History.
