Law & Order has found its new detective. Reid Scott (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) has joined the NBC drama as a series regular, replacing Jeffrey Donovan, per Deadline. Donovan’s exit from the series after two seasons was revealed earlier this month, with “creative differences” reported as the reason for his departure.
Scott will join the NBC series as a yet-to-be-named NYPD detective. He joins a cast featuring Sam Waterston, Camryn Manheim, Hugh Dancy, Odelya Halevi, and Mehcad Brooks.
This is the second major replacement for the series revival. Anthony Anderson, who reprised his role as Det. Kevin Bernard, had agreed to return for one year and left after season 21 (the first year of the revival).
The NBC drama follows the police and district attorneys working together to take down criminals in New York City. Law & Order returns for an abbreviated 23rd season on January 18th.
