Pixies have released two brand-new singles ‘You’re So Impatient’ and ‘Que Sera, Sera’. Check them out below.
Both singles mark the band’s first new music in two years. According to a press release, they see Pixies create “a macabre and cinematic picture of American pop culture”. The raging ‘You’re So Impatient’ has been described as “an explosive two-minute, nine-second Zombie attack at the mall.”
Speaking about the song in a press release, Pixies frontman Black Francis said: “‘You’re So Impatient’ is a slightly comedic suburban culture moment: there’s this guy, there’s this gal, there’s this tug-of-love dynamic going on. But the backdrop is the mall. And while the mall is crass, it’s also a very zombie, rock ‘n’ roll horror movie setting.”
Pixies have also reimagined Doris Day’s 1950 hit ‘Que Sera, Sera’, turning the bright song into “a dark folk tale, told anew through the lens of a sci-fi monster epic.” The track was originally recorders as part of the soundtrack for the US TV series From.
A limited edition 7″ vinyl pressing of the double A-side tracks is set for release on July 19. Visit here to pre-order the pressing.
2024 marks 35 years since the band’s second album ‘Doolittle’ entered the UK Top 10 and 20 since they reformed.
The band have recently kicked off their North American tour with Modest Mouse and Cat Power and are set to return to the UK in August for a string of headlining dates as well as various festival performances including London’s All Points East and Victorious Festival.
Pixies will also be heading down under with Pearl Jam later this autumn for a string of show dates in New Zealand and Australia. Visit here to purchase tickets for their US tour and here for their UK tour. Check out a full list of dates below.
