lthough the dust has now settled from the #CannesFilmFestival, the event created quite a storm that celebrity looks from it’s red carpet are still headlining fashion and beauty news. For 12 days straight, the south of France was the global headquarters of Black girl glamour, and we have the most irresistible looks from last week to prove it. However, the location wasn’t the only place Black women served face cards. From LA to Seattle, Marrakech to Lagos, last week was indeed punctuated by memorable glam.
The Looks
Makeup
We kick things off from Los Angeles where Shannon Thornton makes a case for the winged liner during the Gracies Awards. In what has become one of my favorite looks, the star turned to the winged liner to add drama to an otherwise subtle look. Herein lies the secret to an impactful face serving: balance. Surely, this is Black girl glamour at its finest. Over at Cannes, Salima Jenkins played with muted tones on the red carpet which, interestingly, flattered her glorious brown skin. Just like Thornton, Jenkins’ facebeat emphasized a focal point — this time, her lips. She opted for a deep shade of red lipstick to tie an already stunning look together.
Hair
Fulani braids are such a darling style and Jackie Aina reminded us of this last week. As she posed in her electric blue Savage X Fenty underwear, we also received some good current from her African-inspired hairdo. And her choice of beads further added to the ethnic touch.
Check out the best Black girl glamour vibes we spotted on celebs and influencers last week…
