Last Week The BAFTA Awards Fashion Was Undeniably Glitzy

he Fashion Weeks and award shows continue to render mood board-worthy outfits that challenge the tenets of fashion as we know it. The silhouettes never cease to take unusual forms, and stylish black stars keep the refined looks rolling in. Last week, the BAFTA award show in London was abuzz with dignitaries from all walks of life, gracefully walking the red carpet. When the Prince and Princess of Wales showed up in matching black and white coordination, paparazzi and fans were convinced the BAFTA looks were going to slap this year. There was not a streak of disappointment detected.

The Looks

Elegance has always known Tessa Thompson by name. The star dazzled the red carpet in a UV-foiled silk taffeta Robert Wun dress alongside Michael B. Jordan for the Creed 3 movie premiere. The Reflective Gown, as it’s named, reflects a flowy train and soft pleats which represent poise.

Red-carpet star girl Jodie Turner-Smith checked in to the BAFTAs with textures, hues, and bling on point. The lavender Gucci frock emphasized the layers of asymmetrically-placed feathers embedded in a sequined sheer composition of goodness. The 36-year-old matched her face beat with her dynamic ensemble, resulting in the much-needed flair.

British actress Cynthia Erivo got the memo for the BAFTA night—poise, embellishments, and structure. She slayed to perfection in a custom Louis Vuitton dress on the carpet. The star’s attention to detail was also evident in her nail and accessory choices. If you consider normalcy boring, look to Erivo for inspiration.
