Another Friday, another wonderful rollout from some of the enigmatic and talented afrobeats musicians across Africa. From Falz, who is using his platform to get people to register to vote in the upcoming Nigeria presidential election, to Mr. Eazi, who’s using his influence to give back and promote artists across Africa, this week saw new music releases from some of our faves. Falz finally dropped his highly anticipated album titled Bahd, and in it is Inside — a groovy song that features Timaya and Boy Spyce.
After years of focusing on his EmPawa Music signees, Mr. Eazi is back and set to release his next album. He began his rollout with Legalize and is working with African fine and visual artists to make it a grand one. #1. Falz ft. Timaya and Boy Spyce – Inside
Talented Nigerian rapper, Falz churns out a new thrilling euphony titled Inside which features Timaya and Mavin Records’ newly signed act, Boy Spyce. The song is ascertained to thrill the mind of anyone who listens to it as it’s really a vibe just in time for summer. Falz, Timaya, and Boy Spyce were able to clearly showcase their individual skills through their play with words and smooth flowing verses. Inside is taken from Falz’s new 12-track album, Bahd.
#2. Ladipoe – Big Energy
Sensational Nigerian rapper and Mavin Records act, Ladipoe unpacks a new song titled Big Energy. When it comes to creating sick flows over a very well-produced beat with a lot of creative effort, Ladipoe stands out always. This characteristic was not lacking on Big Energy as the heavily melodious freestyle track looks like it’s going to be a smash.
#3. Mr. Eazi – Legalize
Music entrepreneur Mr. Eazi has released his first single Legalize off his highly anticipated next album. Eazi had recently pushed the release of his next album till 2023, assuring fans that it will be special. However, he has begun the rollout of the songs on the album with Legalize. For the album rollout, Eazi is working with contemporary artists to create unique art pieces to accompany each song. The pieces will be tokenized and shared with the public through specially-curated metaverse and physical events.
#4. Gyakie – Something
Ghanaian afrobeats singer Jackline Acheampong, better known by her stage name Gyakie has released a brand new single which she has titled Something. Known for writing and singing really beautiful afro-love songs, Gyakie serves fans with her first single this year which follows her signature tune while providing something different as the end product.
#5. Oxlade – Ku Lo Sa
Enigmatic Nigerian Afro-R&B artist Oxlade showcased his exceptional talent on “A Colors Show” today, Friday. On the YouTube show, he premiered a never-heard-before song titled Ku Lo Sa which is a play on closer. In this song, Oxlade sings to his love interest, letting her know he wants her to be closer to him. The heavy use of drums and production very well suited Oxlade’s sound and made the song a sure banger.
