Afrobeats artists are ensuring we close off the first half of 2022 with a bang and an arsenal of afrobeat bangers. This week’s releases are a lineup of songs that would be heard in clubs and functions a number of times in the second half of this year and we are excited for all the fun to be had! Case in point: DaBaby and Davido have finally released their anticipated song titled Showing Off Her Body with a very appealing visual to accompany it.
As if that wasn’t enough, this week also witnessed a few music sensations who have stayed low over the years arrive on the music scene once again with hit tunes. One of such is Ice Prince who made a comeback after his hiatus with Hustle featuring Nigerian rising stars Seyi Vibez and Ceeza Milli. The track is groovy enough to have your head bump and feet tap at their own will. Other artists also gave us hits [and potential hits] this week and true to our music-loving nature, we’ve curated the top five you should definitely add to your playlist this weekend and beyond.
Check out the top 5 trending new Afrobeat songs released this week…
#1. DaBaby, Davido – Showing Off Her Body
The most anticipated song of the year has finally been released. A few weeks back, American hip hop artist DaBaby traveled to Nigeria to shoot a music video with Davido. Since that event, Nigerians have been gearing up for the release of the song. With the arrival of this club banger, which showcases how well the Nigerian sound goes with the American sound, we are definitely hungry for more cross-continental collaborations.
#2. Teni – Little (Love I Love)
Talented act and songwriter, Teni bounces back on the music scene with a song whose snippet already had people talking earlier this week. On Little (Love I Love), Teni sings about being allowed to love freely and why loving shouldn’t be a crime. We can already see this song as a summer anthem across Nigeria just like many of her previous tunes.
#3. MzVee Ft. Kwesi Arthur – Flex
Exceptionally gifted Ghanaian sensational singer and songwriter, MzVee emerges on the music stage with an astounding hit single dubbed Flex. In this new song, she features fellow Ghanaian singer and rapper Kwesi Arthur to bridge the gap between her wonderful vocals with a rap verse. Flex is one of the new songs that prove that Ghanaian singers are not here to play as they have been steadily improving on their craft.
#4. Ice Prince Ft. Seyi Vibez and Ceeza Milli – Hustle
Super Cool Cat Boss, Ice Prince teams up with talented singers Seyi Vibez and Ceeza Milli to deliver an educative, melodious record titled, Hustle. This catchy masterpiece is produced by SB and Yuba. The song talks about grinding, enjoying one’s hustle, and showing love to people below us. Hustle serves as Ice Prince’s entry into 2022 and, so far, fans are loving the tune.
#5. Omar Sterling Ft. DarkoVibes – Don’t Waste My Time
Ghanaian multi-talented musician, Omar Sterling, one of the R2Bees duo comes through with a new single titled Don’t Waste My Time featuring Ghanaian singer and rapper DarkoVibes.
