According to a recent study by CEOWORLD magazine that examined the location and net worth of the world’s wealthiest women, the United States has the largest number of female billionaires, followed closely by China, Germany, and Italy. There are 2.7 times more female billionaires in the United States than in China. There are 2516 billionaires in the world, but only 322 are women. Here is the list of The World’s Richest Female Billionaires, 2024.
It is often assumed that certain countries have a significant number of women among their super-wealthy population, but the reality is quite different. Take the United Kingdom, for example, which only has three female billionaires. Japan and Russia are not far ahead either, with just two female billionaires each, while Singapore has only one. See which countries have the highest representation of women among the ranks of the super-wealthy.
France’s 9th spot on the female billionaire world map is home to one of the wealthiest women on the planet, Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, who has a staggering net worth of US$99.5 billion. She inherited one-third of the L’Oreal fortune and several exclusive properties in 2017 after her mother’s passing.
The United States has 98 female billionaires, with Alice Walton leading the pack with a net worth of $64.8 billion. She is followed by Julia Koch and Jacqueline Mars, whose net worths are $60.1 billion and $39.8 billion, respectively. Alice Walton is the daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton and chose to dedicate her life to art, opening the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in 2011. Jacqueline Mars inherited her wealth from her grandfather, who founded the Mars food company. Julia Koch and her three children inherited a 42 percent stake in Koch Industries following the death of her husband. Together, they donated $20 million to support the work of medical institutions.
Boasting a total of 34 female billionaires, Germany ranks third globally. Germany’s richest woman, Economist Susanne Klatten, who owns pharmaceutical company Atlanta AG and nearly 20 percent of BMW, has a net worth of US$23.5 billion. Here, then, are the best countries in the world for gender equality among billionaires.
