Consumption reflects income and sheds light on living standards, while accumulated wealth plays an increasingly significant role in our unequal world. Wealth inequality includes more than just money. It also considers the value of bank accounts, stocks, investments, real estate, and personal assets like cars, jewelry, art, and other valuables.
It’s a prominent driver of unequal living standards. The Index is a widely used measure that assesses a country’s income or wealth distribution. In this index, 0 represents complete equality, while 100 indicates total inequality. A higher score means more people are unfair. It means that people who make a lot of money get a larger share of the total income and wealth of the population.
