MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon (AMZN) founder Jeff Bezos, is donating most of her wealth to charitable causes. To date, she has generously donated over $14.1 billion to at least 1,621 different charities since the year 2020. She pledged in 2019 to give away the majority of her fortune to charity.
In the current year, 17 nonprofit organizations have declared that they were granted unrestricted contributions from MacKenzie Scott via her philanthropic organization, Yield Giving Fund. The sum of the donations accumulated to $97 million and varied from $1 million to $15 million. Almost half of the gifts were to charities concentrating on early childhood education and development.
