What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Megacosmic Rift (Torth Book 4)?
The Torth series is my 6 book magnum opus about freedom, group think, mob justice, interpersonal power dynamics, and individualism. I wanted to deeply explore these issues through the exaggerated lens of a hive mind galactic empire and those who rebel against it. Any kid who felt like an outcast supergenius can probably relate to Thomas!
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Megacosmic Rift (Torth Book 4), what would they be?
For Thomas? “Run Boy Run” by Woodkid.
For Ariock? “When Worlds Collide” by Powerman 5000.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Progression Fantasy and Sci-Fi epics. I love reading them and writing them.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
We by Yevgeny Zamyatin, All the Skills 4 by Honour Rae, The Crypt by Scott Sigler.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
In Megacosmic Rift (Torth Book 4), there’s a major linchpin moment where one of the main characters switches sides. I anticipated that scene for years.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
There’s a birdbath and birdfeeders outside my window, so I have something to look at when I glance up!
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Hope becomes cope, but never surrender.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
Freedom of thought is vital for a healthy civilization.
