1. Jamie Foxx gives health update

To fans’ delight, Jamie Foxx gave them a firsthand health update on his road to recovery in a video shared on Instagram on Friday, July 21. Jamie, 55, began by thanking his supporters for their outpouring of love and messages. The actor suffered a health scare in April while in Atlanta wrapping up the final days of filming for Netflix’s “Back In Action.” Tearfully, the “Ray” star continued to express gratitude for his renewed lease on life. “I love all the love that I got,” said Jamie as he became choked up.

“And man, you know, I know they talk about people crying on videos; you can do take two, but I’m not gon’ do a take two. It is what it is. If you see me out from now on and every once in a while, I just burst into tears, it’s because it’s been tough. I was sick, man, but now I got my legs under me, so you gon’ see me out. But like I said, I just want you to remember me for the jokes I crack, the movies I make — some of them good, some of them ain’t. I think I got a good one out (They Cloned Tyrone) — and the songs that I sing, man.”

Sensational Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, famously known as Rema, has achieved another milestone as his hit song “Calm Down” becomes the most streamed African song in US history. “Calm Down” displaced CKay’s “Love Nwantiti” to achieve the feat. American music data compilation website, Chart Data, disclosed this on Friday. Both versions of the song have surpassed half a billion streams on Spotify and YouTube. The song is also the first African song to top the American radio chart.

3. South Africa: Makhadzi buys another house

Despite having publicly fought with stakeholders multiple times about money, Limpopo-born musician Makhadzi seems to be set on making better financial decisions and is channeling her money to property investment. Makhadzi, real name Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, has been hard at work securing the bag and now she’s reaping serious rewards. The “Ghanama” hitmaker took to her social media to share the news of the new purchase. 

Sitting on the windowsill of her new property in a pink tracksuit, the 27-year-old singer shared the photo, captioning it: “Came to clean my new bae #girlswithproperties.” This property is the second Makhadzi has shared as her own in addition to the three houses she built in 2021 for her grandmother, mother, and father.

4. Drake tells fans that his next album is coming in “a couple weeks”

During the final Brooklyn stop of his “It’s All A Blur Tour,” Drake gave fans an idea of when his eighth studio LP, “For All The Dogs,” would finally be making landfall. “I got an album coming in like, I don’t know, a couple weeks or some s**t,” he could be heard saying in a fan-recorded video. The moment marked the latest update about the album, which he previously revealed would feature longtime collaborator Nicki Minaj.

Back in June, the OVO frontman announced the aforementioned body of work as part of a promo campaign for his new poetry book, “Titles Ruin Everything,” which he created alongside songwriter Kenza Samir. “I don’t know if I have ever wanted people to buy or support something more in my life,” he stated in an Instagram post.

5. Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele turns down €200m offer from Al-Nassr

Ousmane Dembele has reportedly turned down an offer worth €200 million (£173m/$223m) that would have seen him join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr. The France international winger is still on the books at Barcelona, with the Catalan giants hoping to extend his deal. The World Cup winner has made it clear that his preference is to remain at Camp Nou.

Al-Nassr had been hoping to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding Dembele’s future by tabling a bid that would trigger the €50m (£43m/$56m) release clause in his current deal. The big-spending Saudi Arabian outfit – who already have Ronaldo and ex-Inter star Marcelo Brozovic on their books – were willing to pay Dembele €40m (£35m/$45m) a season over the course of a five-year contract.
