What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Bastard Boss?
When I wrote my Necklace Trilogy, Tyler and Bella were both side characters who I absolutely got sideswiped by and I just had to tell their story!
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Thrillers. I write both romances and thrillers, but am more drawn to thrillers for reading because it helps keep my brain moving in the right direction for my deadlines 🙂
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Any book by one of the attending authors of Readers Take Denver! I’m hosting my first-ever reader convention next year, and I am trying to make sure I’ve read at least one book by all the amazing authors who have agreed to attend – and that’s an incredibly long list at this point!
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The finale scene was very emotional for me to write, but so was Tyler & Bella’s first night together. So either of those for certain.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
Well my husband and I have what we call “the zoo” – two golden retrievers and two kitty cats and I typically write in our room with all of them surrounding me on the bed, or in the dining room with them at my feet. And of course, coffee. Always have to have coffee.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Everything (within reason) happens for a reason. It’s hard to justify the injustices in the world, but a lot of negative things in life can turn you toward better positives if you can persevere. But I’m also very aware of the injustices of life, in which case that motto most certainly doesn’t work. But for day-to-day disappointments, “everything happens for a reason” can offer solace and optimism.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
Well if I’m being selfish, I would say I hope they remember me and my books 🙂 But in a more philosophical sense, I hope they remember that going after what you want may not always end up the way you imagined, but sometimes it’s very much worth the risk.
