1. Rihanna confirmed for Super Bowl Halftime Show
Rihanna has slyly affirmed that she will be performing at the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show in February 2023. Roc Nation also officially confirmed the singer’s participation through a statement released on Sunday. The singer shared a picture of an NFL-branded football on her Instagram. The post came amid reports that the singer was “in talks” to headline the next Halftime Show.
The game, which typically draws one of the biggest single TV audiences of the year, is scheduled to be played at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on February 12. “Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn,” said Jay-Z in the official announcement. “A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment.”
Although having Rihanna as a Halftime headliner is a logical conclusion on the Roc Nation front, the singer has not released an album since 2016. She has commented vaguely about two different albums in the years since (and been photographed coming in and out of recording studios), with one being described as a dancehall album. However, details remain scarce.

Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge has broken his own world-record marathon time by 30 seconds in Berlin, running the 26.2m course in 2:01:09. The 37-year-old, who has now won 15 of his 17 career marathons, including two Olympic triumphs and 10 major titles, was in a class of his own, setting a blistering pace along the flat, fast inner-city course from the start on an overcast day.
Only a handful of runners could keep up with Kipchoge and the group of pacemakers. He gradually shook off last year’s winner, Guye Adola but fellow Ethiopian Andamlak Belihu refused to buckle, even as they raced through the halfway mark in less than an hour. Belihu finally dropped back around the 27-kilometer mark as Kipchoge pushed on for the record.

Thomas Partey has been allowed to leave Ghana for England after sustaining an unspecified injury on Friday just before a friendly against Brazil. The 29-year-old pulled out of the friendly against Brazil in France when the Black Stars lost 3-0. The Arsenal star had been included in the first XI to play the Samba Boys but coach Otto Addo had to employ his “Plan B.” The former Atletico Madrid midfielder has now been released to return to London, as confirmed by the Ghana Football Association.
“Thomas Partey has been granted permission to travel back to London for further assessment after picking up a suspected knee injury on Friday, minutes before the international friendly against Brazil,” GFA confirmed. “The 29-year-old was withdrawn as a precautionary measure.”
