Mattel has released a new David Bowie-inspired Barbie doll to mark the recent 50th anniversary of the late icon’s fourth studio album, ‘Hunky Dory’.
The US toy manufacturer first paid homage to Bowie in 2019 with a doll reflecting the singer’s ‘Space Oddity’ era.

A 50th anniversary vinyl reissue of ‘Hunky Dory’ came out earlier this year – just one day before what would have been Bowie’s 75th birthday (January 8).
Earlier this month, a previously unreleased version of ‘Starman’ came out to celebrate 50 years of Bowie’s fifth studio album, ‘The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars’.
A limited-edition, half-speed vinyl reissue of the aforementioned record followed shortly afterwards.
Press materials hailed the original full-length project as “the breakthrough album that catapulted David Bowie into the international spotlight”, adding that it’s “remained a touchstone record, growing in stature with each passing year”.
