With modern masterpieces like Sinners and Weapons, it’s a great time to be a horror fan. The genre has grown by leaps, bounds, and sub-genres over the last century, and fans are more than excited to continue to progress with it. Still, there’s just something about the classics that makes them — well — classic. As much as we love a new and imaginative kind of horror movie like Beau Is Afraid and The Babadook, we also love throwing it back to the decade that gave us some truly unforgettable titles, including A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Prom Night. What do all of these movies have in common? They’re slashers, of course! Today, we at Collider are thrilled to unveil the latest homage to the blood-filled decade of yesteryear with the debut trailer of Gabriel Bernini’s upcoming feature, Blood Barn. Slated for its Screambox on February 17, the movie promises to take viewers back to the campily comedic horror days of the past and pay homage to the films that established the subgenre.
Ready to let go and have a little fun, the trailer for Blood Barn kicks off in the way that so many movies of its kind do, following a group of teens to a secluded cabin in the woods as they prepare for the party of their lives. All the typical shots are there: a car speeding down a dirt road, friends jumping into a lake, and shots of liquor being poured, but the terror is yet to come. Despite hoping to leave the past in the past, the guest whose family owns the cabin is forced to face down the secrets that come out of the woodwork when staying at the forested getaway. One by one, each friend stumbles across some incredibly bad luck as they’re plagued by a sinister presence that has heads exploding and eyes bleeding. Boasting an array of practical effects, the trailer encapsulates the bloody good time that audiences will have when watching Blood Barn.
Meet the Team Behind ‘Blood Barn’

In addition to helming, Bernini also co-penned the wildly entertaining screenplay alongside Alexandra Jade.
